12-13 February, Brussels - ETUI Training on the European Semester and European Pillar of Social rights

    The education department of ETUI together with the ETUC organise a course on “Trade union coordination for European Semester and European Pillar of Social rights” to be held from 12- 13 February 2020 in Brussels, Belgium.

    Along with the ETUC, most of its member organisations welcome the concept of the European Pillar of Social Rights. It is a fundamental step towards a fairer Europe, but seemingly not for all.

    With the original plans applicable only to the Eurozone and the possibility for member states to opt out, the Social Pillar could remain a missed opportunity for some countries.

    The course aims to highlight the importance of the measure, analyse its strengths and weaknesses and find solutions as well as establish strategies for those countries that might be left out.

    Aims

    • To analyse the concept behind the European Pillar of Social Rights and the connexion with the European Semester;
    • To discuss its economic and political rationale;
    • To get to know the ETUC approach and the role of institutions and social partners in its implementation
    • To develop ideas for a common strategy/ action plan to better advocate it at national level;
    • To share and exchange national experiences and practices related to the topic.

    Working languages

    English, Hungarian and a third language may be introduced according to the participants need
